Speaker: Shamsh Kassim-Lakha was Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education as well as for Science and Technology in 2007-2008. He sits on the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the board of the International Baccalaureate Organization, as well as the Steering Committee of the Talloires Network of 140 universities based at Tufts University.
Description: Until 25 years ago higher education in most of Asia and Africa was provided by government and poorly funded. In his lecture, Mr. Kassim-Lakha will be speaking about the recent work in several developing countries to improve the quality of higher education by inviting private universities to supplement government efforts.
