October 30, 2009 – Ismaili community volunteers participated with outreach and community spirit in the Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations, in the Township of Esquimalt
The Olympic Torch Relay celebrations on Day 1 in Victoria was a truly inspirational moment that highlighted our community spirit.
The Ismaili community adopted a block on Esquimalt Rd. in front of the Municipal Hall and across from Memorial Park where the official celebrations for the Township of Esquimalt were being held. The preparations for the block began two weeks in advance with all ages participating. The efforts involved having a representative on the Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations City of the Township of Esquimalt, packing healthy lunches for students at the Arena, children and parents making the artwork that was displayed on the block, creating a balloon factory on the block, face painting and finally enjoying the moment. The Mayor was introduced to the volunteers.
Bravo!!!! You too are truly champions. You make us all proud.
