When I think of You
Like everyone else
I am at life’s mercy
And like some unfriendly stranger
She makes me dance
Like a puppet on her strings
I am simply lost to what I call chance
I am at the mercy of Life
If life could answer
I would ask her
Why this pain, why this sorrow
Laments of the soul
Unheeded cries
And then, I think of You
A sudden meaningful happiness
An Omnipotent presence
Like a sweet fragrance
An embracing of warm tenderness
There are too many questions
And not that many answers
There may be madness in these questions
And uncertainty in the answers
Then, I think of You
Sane certainty now enters my life
Winning, losing, success and failure
Happiness, sorrow, pain and regret
All life’s experiences
Broken promises and sacred vows
Like words we like to borrow
Leave hearts torn apart like shattered boughs
And then, I think of You
I love to think of You
I love to feel Your presence
The strength You give me
A sense of calm and comfort
Your simple words of advice
And of being loved unconditionally
One day all wounds will heal
Or so I believe
Many cries I suppress as I strive
Just not to feel so lost
Some sanity, some rational reason
All at some high expense or cost
When does it end, this cycle of pain and strife?
Only when…………………
………………………………I think of You
