Thousands expected for World Partnership Walk – C-FAX 1070 News
Thousands of walkers will take to beacon hill park sunday morning for the world partnership walk.
It’s canada’s largest annual event dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight global poverty.
The walk gets underway at 11am at the beacon hill bandshell.
Local organizer Naz Rayani says it’s an easy cause to support. “when you know, half the world lives on less than two dollars a day, i don’t think we can comprehend that. Two dollars…coffee, parking…two dollars a day. And we must help our people locally for sure, but a small sliver of our savings should go to this kind of a cause.”
Registration is free. The Vic high jazz band will be among the entertainers at the walk. Ryani says they are hoping to beat last year’s fund raising total of 200-thousand dollars.
