CIVIC – Challenging Ismaili Volunteers in Communities

What Is the CIVIC Program?

In the spirit of service, the CIVIC program, which stands for “Challenging Ismaili Volunteers In Communities”, has been introduced as a Golden Jubilee youth initiative in Canada, that will allow youth between the ages of 13 to 25 to become “ambassadors” for the spirit of voluntary service.

The CIVIC day volunteer activity will focus on one or more themes which reflect initiatives of the AKDN, including Health, Environment, Humanitarian Assistance and Architecture. To prepare for CIVIC day, participants will be required to attend a workshop in their region to be held during the month of April 2008.

This annual program will provide an opportunity for Ismaili youth to demonstrate their positive impact in their local communities. The CIVIC program provides experiential learning opportunities to allow youth to contribute to the betterment of the societies within which they live. We hope that the program will foster long-term engagement with the partner organizations by involving Ismaili youth in both the strategic planning and implementation on CIVIC day.
