Karakoram Area Development Organization (KADO) is a non-for profit local development organization working in Hunza to improve the socio-economic base and living conditions of the rural population of the Hunza valley with special focus on women, artisans, small producers and other disadvantaged groups such as people with special needs. It works in different fields which include: a) Promotion and revival of traditional crafts involving women and other disadvantaged groups of the society; b) Use of information technology for poverty reduction and development in rural areas; c) Revival and promotion of festivals, arts and culture; d) rehabilitation of people with special needs; e) Capacity building of local institutions and f) Dealing with environmental issues in Hunza.
