Public-Private partnership vital for the economic prosperity

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Public-Private partnership is crucial for the socio economic prosperity of the country. This was stated by Dr. Nasim Ashraf, Minister of state and Chairman National Commission on Human Development (NCHD) while addressing the participants of national consultative workshop on “Collaboration between Civil Society Organizations and Government” (CSOs-Gop) organized by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) here today.

The Executive Director PCP, Ms.Shahnaz Wazir Ali gave a welcome address and elaborated the importance of Govt-CSO collaboration.

Dr.Naseem Ashraf appreciated the efforts of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and PCP in their endeavour to undertake first ever exploratory study on the important subject of Govt-CSO collaboration.

He also emphasized the Gop’s policy of adopting a participatory approach to development.

Highlighting the objective of the workshop , Dr.Ashraf said it was aimed at soliciting views and recommendations from experienced practitioners and stakeholders to foster collaboration between government and CSOs on a sustainable basis.

The exploratory research jointly done by PCP and AKDN on the nature of govt-CSO collaboration in Pakistan attempted to define collaboration on theoretical plan and examined some existing successful examples of collaboration by showcasing 20 case studies.

As part of the consultative endeavour, PCP shared the draft report’s findings with stakeholders while ensuring their involvement in the draft report, which will assist PCP in producing the final report.

The workshop was attended by high ranking government officials, representatives of civil society, donors and eminent citizens.

The studies, findings were presented by Ezaz Dar, Senior Programme Manager, PCP for discussion and discourse by the participants.

The Centre was established in 2001 as an independent non-profit support organization with the mission to increase the volume and effectiveness of philanthropy for social development in Pakistan.
