25 years of Innovative Solutions to Create Hope and Opportunity
Each year Partnership Walk explores international development issues via a specific theme that is significant to the Aga Khan Foundation’s work in health, education, rural development and civil society. Beginning in October 2006, Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) launched the celebration of its 25th anniversary and will continue to draw attention to its 25 years of service through a variety of outreach and education activities and events through July 2007. AKF USA was incorporated in Washington, DC in October 1981.
To capture the depth, scope and impact of a quarter century of achievements, this year’s theme embraces a common thread underlying all of the Foundation’s work: innovative solutions to create hope and opportunity.
In every undertaking, the overriding goal of the Foundation’s work is to assist in the struggle against poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy through the discovery and implementation of innovative solutions to development.
What exactly do we mean by “innovative solutions”? These are ground-breaking, inventive ways to tackle development challenges. Bold thinking and new ideas are critical if we are to win the fight against global poverty. Throughout its history, Aga Khan Foundation has been at the forefront of coming up with solutions that help people move out of poverty toward greater self-reliance.
