Karachi: 3rd Aga Khan University intervarsity throwball tournament for girls

KARACHI: The Aga Khan University (AKU) Sports and Rehabilitation Centre is organizing its third intervarsity throwball tournament for girls from Sunday.

Teams from 10 institution across Karachi will participate. The teams have been divided into two pools and the round matches will be played on league basis by elimination, that is, the best of three games, at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Pool “A” comprises AKU, Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC), L’ecole University (LU), Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) and Iqra University (IU). Pool “B” comprises Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU), Greenwich University (GU) and FAST-NU.

Four matches will take place on Sunday. AIDM will play AKU in the inaugural match.

AKU Clinical Epidemiology Unit Director Dr. Tazeen H. Jafar, who is also the Nephrology head of section and an associate professor at the Department of Medicine and Community Health Sciences, AKU, will inaugurate the tournament at 2:00 pm.

Other matches for the day include IBA versus ZMU at 3:00 p.m., GU versus FAST-NU at 4:00 p.m., and LU versus IU at 5:00 p.m.

Oasis Inter-school tournatment: Meanwhile, PPI reported Friday that a match between host Oasis School and South Shore School was a tie after a goalless draw in the fourth Oasis Inter-School Tournament at the Aga Khan University football ground. Both teams strived hard to lead but failed to score due to poor finishing. The Lyceum School led the table with 12 points, followed by Oasis School with six points and Prince Ali Boys School with four. Referee Chaudhry Israr supervised the match while Habibullah and Anwar Khan supported on the line.
